Overview
Whatman™ mixed cellulose ester (MCE) membranes are composed of cellulose acetate and cellulose nitrate. These membranes are characterized by a smoother and more uniform surface than pure nitrocellulose filters.
- Sterile options available for critical applications.
- Excellent contrast for easier particle detection.
- Grids are nontoxic and do not inhibit bacterial growth, ensuring sample integrity.
- Black plain and black gridded membranes have a mix of cellulose nitrate and cellulose acetate.
- The membrane offers a high degree of internal surface area for greater adsorption of product.
- Higher dirt loading capacity.
- Biologically inert with good thermal stability.
- No surfactants to contaminate samples.
- Uniform microporous structure of membrane gives high flow rates.
The color contrast provided by the filter surface facilitates particle detection and minimizes eye fatigue. The ME range has a lower cellulose acetate content compared to the WME range of membranes.
Supor™ PES membrane disc filters, a Pall Life Sciences product, are high flow rate membranes optimized for biological, pharmaceutical, and sterilizing filtration requirements.
- High flow rate membrane optimized for biological, pharmaceutical, and sterilizing filtration requirements
- Fast filtration with superior flow rates and high throughputs
- Low protein binding and extensive drug compatibility for critical applications
- Saves time and money with fewer filter changes per sample volume
- 142 and 293 mm discs feature printed tab for instant recognition of pore size and lot number
Metricel™ black PES membrane disc filters, a Pall Life Sciences product, provide excellent contrast for counting opaque colonies in microbiology labs.
- Exclusive dot grid pattern does not enhance or inhibit colony growth
- Certified for use in the Membrane Filtration (MF) Technique as described in Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, current edition
- Sharp contrast between black membrane and white grid line provides guidance while viewing and counting
- Available non-sterile or in individual gamma-irradiated packs (S-packs) for critical applications
Whatman sterile MCE membrane filters from Cytiva's business are plain or gridded filters designed to support routine cell counting and particle detection.
- Excellent contrast for easy particle detection
- High internal surface area for sample adsorption
- High dirt loading capacity
- Biologically inert with good thermal stability
- Uniform microporous structure delivers high flow rates
Cytiva's Whatman MCE membrane filters are composed of cellulose acetate and cellulose nitrate, giving the membrane a more uniform surface than pure nitrocellulose filters. Other sterile mixed cellulose ester membranes are available.
